Summer is slowly coming to an end, but cycling season isn't over yet. On the contrary: with the return of daily commutes, longer rides and cooler temperatures, it's a good time to check the condition of your bike.
After several months of riding, dust, rain or sporting outings, some components may start to show signs of wear. A skipping chain, less precise gears, brakes that lack bite, or a worn-out tire are all small problems that are best dealt with before autumn.
Why have your bike serviced before autumn?
A bike service allows you to check the main components of your bike and detect problems before they become more serious.
At Routes&Roads, our mechanics can work on:
- the drivetrain and gear adjustment;
- the chain, cassette, and chainrings;
- the brakes, pads, and discs;
- the tires and wheels;
- the steering and bottom bracket;
- general bike adjustments.
A worn chain, for example, can gradually accelerate the wear of the cassette. Regular checks therefore not only allow you to ride more comfortably, but also to avoid certain more significant repairs.
Has your bike been ridden a lot this summer?
That's probably the best indicator.
If you've used your bike every day for commuting, participated in long rides, done gravel, mountain biking, or simply gone on many outings during the summer, a pre-autumn service is a good idea.
Seasonal changes are particularly suitable for maintenance: you prepare your bike for the coming months rather than waiting for a breakdown to occur.
